Student Observation
As a Student Observer, you will join a limited cohort of practitioners who have the opportunity to shadow either Melinda and/or Stephen as they practice the craft of Classical Chinese medicine. Each week, you’ll follow them as they see patients, and “think out loud” with you about every aspect of the patients that you diagnose and treat together.
Some of the remarks we’ve heard from previous Student Observers are that they appreciated:
Learning how diagnostic signs and symptoms lead to specific treatments
Honing their tracking of pulse qualities over time on “actual patients”
Getting to see the same patients over time
Forming longer-term care relationship with patients
Learning how to track and tailor treatment planning
Learning how to talk to patients about Chinese medicine diagnosis and treatment
Learning the trajectory of prescribing herbs over time
Prerequisites
Student Observers must have taken at least one Comprehensive Introductory Seminar, and at least two Intromediate or Hands-On Intensives courses. We accept applications on a rolling basis and curate a cohort of no more than four students per term.
